Roll on Friday

Zander and friends away all this wet week - camping - on a school trip.
It involves lots of outdoor stuff that will be even more wet and muddy than usual.

Looking forward to the filthy bag - although I expect I will still find the towels dry and very clean at the bottom...

Missing him.

Happy Flowers

Even though it's raining and even if the allotments are scruffy and even if there is a dead pigeon on my allotment that I can't go near because I'm scared... there are some very jolly flowers to cheer a person up!

It's raining again

Tried weeding this morning but got so much rain down my neck that I gave up and cycled home for my camera.
I'd spotted some interesting drips on my bean sticks which had to be photographed there and then.
Just hoping the camera will dry out soon...

So nearly ready

They're oh so nearly out - the loganberries, the currants and even the beautiful love-in-the-mist.

Hurry up!

Allotment Jewels

A fennel diamond, glittering CD bird scarers, a beaded alium and brocolli leaf and a net of glistening drops protecting the blackcurrants.

Ooh... lovely rain. Everything on the allotment covered in rain drop jewels and emerald green is now the predominate colour.

Hope those snails haven't noticed...

Thoughts on the allotment...

It was one of those mornings when I just couldn't decide what I needed to do first on the allotment - so took some photographs instead. They weren't too successful because the sun was too high.

Think the egg shells are stopping someone eating my beautiful florence fennel.

The spinach is looking luscious.
Bamp's hazel sticks have gone in to support the black beans although not many of them have come up and I've had to fill them in with some green beans. (They all go green once they're cooked anyway)

Sweetcorn went in with some starry nigella seeds for loveliness.

Then got a bit obsessed with the chairs on a neighbouring allotment
and then there was the barrow
...

Scrummy halloumi burgers

Yum.
Last night, put some fat portobello mushrooms, liberally tossed in olive oil, garlic and lovely soft lemon thyme onto the bbq. Added dense slices of halloumi light with yet more yummy thyme until brown.
Then put straight into a toasted bun with lime juice, chilli jam and rocket.

Served with char grilled courgette slices and lime dressed salad.

Will be doing that again...
