Thomas and Revision...

...don't go well together

Summer Jewels

Zander is off to meet his friends on this fabulous sunny day.
They're going to the park to get soaked -
Zander is well prepared with his beautiful water bombs!

Meanwhile poor Thomas is stuck in his room revising...
a solid week of exams from tomorrow poor old boy.

Think I'll bake his favourite cake
and maybe a halloumi and mushroom burger on the BBQ

More of Zanders models

Zander was going to do an animation with wallace in bed poorly with chicken pox but has now decided to make up his own animated characters.
No doubt I'll be sent off to the art shop again...

Zanders big day

On friday, we went to the wonderful new City Hall in Central London to pick up a prize Zander won for a Fourth Plinth design. We had to miss the main ceremony as Zander had his final maths Sats exam that same morning . . . good timing!
We arrived to discover that Artist Antony Gormley had waited for Zander to have a chat and present him with a certificate and wonderful prize. He spent quite some time chatting with Zands and even helpfully suggested that Zander needs a shed for his work. Hmmm.

Zander was thrilled as he loves Antony Gormleys work.
And to think he didn't really want to go.... !

An old fashioned rose

Keep fiddling with the colours on this gorgeous rose -
it's such an old fashioned bloom that it seems to suit this treatment.

Wonder how many petals I'd need to make a pot of rose petal jam -
my absolute favourite.

More roses...

Left these outrageous blooms in the garden this time.
They've had a huge shower of rain
and look so fresh and blowsy outside the back door.

These smell divine...

I just can't resist cutting and filling vases with these gorgeous roses -
don't know what variety they are but the smell is like honey
.

Poor Zander

Zander is very grumpy because not only does he have a week of exams
but we discovered this morning that Hampton school is closed all week
due to a suspect case of swine flu so Thomas will be at home.

Sorry Zands!

Thomas is 14

...and sadly, that means loads of enormous, loud boys for a sleepover -
not that any sleep goes on.
Where am I supposed to put all those massive shoes?

Bampy Seniors peony

This peony makes me smile every time it flowers
because it came from Bampy's garden in Long Hanborough.
It always brings his lovely face back to me.

Stirrings on the allotment...

Better late then never.

Finally cleared the whole allotment which means the seedlings are late again.
Beginning to see stuff come through - so exciting.
Want to stay on the allotment but have many boring things to do.

Two very favourite places

Hi Roops,
going to try to put something up most days so you can see the daily nonsense on this side
x

Zander is very busy making models out of fimo
for his Wallace and Gromit animation...

Thomas revising his german... probably.
He's got a painful stomach
due to over enthusiastic rowing at Dorney Lake on Sunday.

Todays flowers

This is supposed to be a year in the life of us...
don't know how often I'll take a photograph relevant to that day
or write a comment but here goes...

Can't do too much today - Thomas at home unwell -

I'll stare at my late seedlings to speed them on and enjoy the sudden array of flowers in the garden. What are the jolly pink flowers called?
They look like they're all jostling for position!
